Erica Wiebe pins Ukrainian opponent for wrestling bronze medal in Kyiv

This time, Canadian wrestler Erica Wiebe will return residence with a medal round her neck.

The native of Stittsville, Ont., collected her third pin of the match, defeating Ukraine’s Anna Melnyk within the ladies’s 76-kilogram bronze-medal match on the Excellent Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial on Saturday.

In December, the 31-year-old Wiebe misplaced a battle for bronze at a World Cup occasion in Belgrade, Serbia.

After successful her first two matches by pin Friday, the Calgary resident fell to Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan by pin within the semifinals.

The reigning Olympic champion within the 75-kg freestyle class has already certified for the Tokyo Video games this summer time.
