WorkSafeBC, RCMP examine dying at Richmond cement plant

Richmond RCMP Severe Crime Unit and WorkSafeBC are investigating a deadly industrial accident Thursday at Lafarge Canada’s cement operation in Richmond, B.C.

Police stated the power in the 7600 block of No.9 Street was evacuated after the incident nonetheless investigators should not releasing extra particulars about what could have occurred.

WorkSafeBC spokesperson Ivy Yuen confirmed investigators have been known as at about 10 a.m. 

Yuen stated the aim of the investigation is to find out the reason for the incident, and any contributing components, to stop related incidents sooner or later.

Lafarge Canada Inc. spokesperson Jill Truscott stated the corporate is cooperating absolutely with the investigation.

“We’re saddened to substantiate a deadly accident at our cement facility in Richmond, B.C., on Nov. 19, 2020.  We’re in shock and are extraordinarily involved concerning the influence to this particular person’s household and buddies,” stated Truscott in an announcement.

Richmond RCMP Severe Crime Unit was on scene for a number of hours Thursday.
